• Confirmed The brand has announced it, or it's visible on an official store.
• Release A device is shipping or on sale.
• Firmware A new firmware, custom OS or emulator release.
• Software A new app, frontend, game port or tool for handhelds.
• Deal A price drop or sale, checked at the time of posting.

Sources

Every post lists its sources at the bottom. We prefer official sources: brand websites, official social accounts and stores, and project release pages. A story is labeled Confirmed only when an official source backs it, or two independent sources agree. Everything else is a rumor.

Use of AI

Automated tools find new stories and AI writes first drafts from the source material. The AI is told to use only facts found in the sources. A person reviews every news post before it is published and is named on the post. Hands-on impressions, emulation ratings and opinions come only from people who have used the device. AI never invents them.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it and add a note at the bottom of the post saying what changed and when. Spot a mistake? Email hello@retrogradehandhelds.com.

Money and independence

We earn money from ads and affiliate links. Brands can't pay to change what we write. Sponsored posts are clearly labeled, and we say so when a device was sent to us for free.
